HP Inc. Instant Ink Engineering Manager in Vancouver, Washington

Job Description:

The Instant Ink development team ( www.hpinstantink.com ) is looking for someone who will bring their passion and knowledge to develop and grow this business for HP. You will be managing a team of full-stack web developers who are using agile methodologies to deliver comprehensive solutions for our products and customers. Combined with paired programming, these developers will be working with the most cutting edge and web technologies such as React, Java, Rails, Node.js, Splunk, Jenkins, AWS and others.

You will apply advanced subject matter knowledge to manage staff activities in solving common and complex business/technical issues within established policies. You will have accountability for the results of major programs in terms of cost, direction and people management. In this role, you will provide guidance on process improvements and recommend changes in alignment with business tactics and strategy for your areas of responsibility.

Responsibilities:

  • Provides direct and ongoing guidance to a diverse team of direct reports

  • Ability to balance resources, people, and business tradeoffs across multiple projects in a fast- paced, dynamic environment

  • Communicates project status and escalates issues to direct managers, program managers, and internal and external partners.

  • Quality focused and proactively identifies opportunities for process improvement and cost reductions opportunities

  • Provides people-care management for assigned team members, including hiring, setting and monitoring of annual performance plans, coaching, and career development; ensures that proper knowledge and career development tools are in place to support ongoing team member and process development

Education and Experience:

  • BS in Computer Engineering, Computer Science or related Engineering Field

  • Advanced university degree is a plus

  • Typically 5 or more years of related work experience, which may include people management experience.

Additional skills:

  • Strong management skills, including coaching, team-building, and conflict resolution

  • Experience in web development, DevOps, AWS, or other Cloud technologies preferred

  • Experience in Agile software engineering practices and full software development life cycle

  • Strong assessment and problem-solving skills.

  • Advanced business acumen, technical knowledge, and extensive knowledge in applications and technologies.

  • Strong communication skills (e.g. written, verbal, presentation); mastery in English and local language.

Per the Washington State statute, the estimated range of compensation for this job in that location , at the time of this posting, is $140,000 - $170,000. This position may be eligible for incentive pay, for openings where this is applicable.
