HP Inc. Cloud Software Manager in Boise, Idaho

A manager in CSS (Consumer Services and Solutions) has a key role in cloud SW development where we provide growth customer solutions and focus on developing our teams. As a manager you play a critical role in helping define, develop, and organize the SW engineers to deliver high quality cloud solutions on time with quality and consistency. The cloud manager will have a small group of developers and contractors that work closely with the partner technical program managers to understand the requests, design, and implement the solution. This manager will lead a development team and develop any new engineers. You will be managing a team of back-end cloud developers who use agile methodologies to deliver comprehensive solutions for our products and customers. Combined with paired programming, these developers will be working with the most cutting-edge web technologies.

You will apply advanced subject matter knowledge to manage staff activities in solving common and complex business/technical issues within established policies. You will have accountability for the results of major programs in terms of cost, direction, and people management. In this role, you will provide guidance on process improvements and recommend changes in alignment with business tactics and strategy for your areas of responsibility. You will recruit and support the development of direct staff members.

Responsibilities:

  • Provides direct and ongoing guidance to a diverse team of direct reports

  • Ability to manage people across geographies to drive workforce development and achieve desired results

  • Ability to balance resources, people, and business tradeoffs across multiple projects in a fast- paced, dynamic environment

  • Communicates project status and escalates issues to direct managers, program managers, and internal and external partners.

  • Manages relationships with outsourced partners and suppliers, including setting expectations regarding deliverables, product quality, schedules, and costs; ensures that team members are effectively communicating and collaborating with outsourced resources

  • Quality focused and proactively identifies opportunities for process improvement and cost reductions opportunities

  • Provides people-care management for assigned team members, including hiring, setting and monitoring of annual performance plans, coaching, and career development; ensures that proper knowledge and career development tools are in place to support ongoing team member and process development

Education and Experience:

  • BS in Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or related Engineering Field

  • Advanced university degree is a plus

  • Typically, 5 or more years of related work experience, which may include people management experience.

  • Strong assessment and problem-solving skills.

  • Advanced business acumen, technical knowledge, and extensive knowledge in applications and technologies.

  • Strong multi-tasking and prioritization skills.

  • Strong communication skills (e.g. written, verbal, presentation); mastery in English and local language.

  • Experience in web development, AWS, or other Cloud technologies preferred

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several U.S. geographic markets, and we pay differently based on those defined markets. The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is $118,050.00 -- $181,800.00 annually with additional opportunities for pay in the form of bonus and/or equity. Pay within this range varies by work location and may also depend on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience.
